This is regarding a loss of a credit note of Rs 1753/- issued from a Pantaloon Outlet. S B Road, Pune. I had done a purchase of Rs 1753. However, I decided to exchanged the Kurtas as it was not of proper fit to me and also, the color looked dull when checked in normal light as compared to lights in the shop. When I went to return the Kutras, they took the kurtas, and gave me a credit note in return. IMPORTANT to specify, even if we ask for our money back we are not given our money back but a credit note. To my bad luck, I lost the credit note during the period of my dad’s hospitalization. I immediately reported the issue to help desk/Floor Manager Mr Ritwij. But, they asked me to search for the credit note, and there is no alternative solution to get the exchange amount. Though it was mistake from my side for being negligent and losing the credit note, they could have made an arrangement to issue a new copy of the credit note as the entry of the same would be available in the system. However, I was told that the piece of paper is very much important and copy of the same cannot be generated again. They provided me an explanation that it is equivalent to losing money, and they will not be able to allow me redeems the amount unless I found that piece of paper (credit note). My question here is the invoice number and the credit note number are available in the system and they too know that the transaction is done by a specific customer. In such a scenario, why can’t they generate a copy of the same credit note and provide it to the customer? If money is lost, it cannot be tracked. But credit note entry is available in the system, and they need to print one more copy of the same. If this cannot be done, why there is need to have system for billing. I would not have asked them for the favor if they had returned me the money. But, they too are not returning money on exchange because they want the customer to spend the amount in the same store only.
I feel I should be provided a copy the credit note and I should be allowed to redeem the amount. Kindly request your assistance in this matter and also what about my hard earned money?
